Plant genomics

We are developing a new approach to the assessment and rational use of plant genetic resources, based on the quantification of plant traits and application of genomics and bioinformatics. This will help to identify the intraspecific genetic variability of valuable traits and find new candidate genes for breeding. Along with the practical tasks, we elaborate new mathematical methods and algorithms to understand how to reconstruct the history of the species domestication, how to identify and annotate mutations accumulated by the cultivated varieties over the last century, how to identify patterns in the genome associated with the response to selection and identify the alleles providing plant adaptation to environmental conditions.
